JFCNF Personnel complete Comprehensive Operational Planning Course (COPC)

Norfolk, Virginia - For the first time in history, a COPC course has taken place in Norfolk, USA. This course aims to prepare students to contribute to NATO’s operations planning process, either as operational-level or functional-area planners, while serving within a joint operational-level headquarters. The course focuses on applying the principles of the Comprehensive Operations Planning Directive (COPD).

24 students from Joint Force Command Norfolk representing 12 different Allied countries participated in this intensive two-week course which was hosted at the Joint Forces Staff College, which provided the necessary facilities, support and resources which created a professional learning environment for course.

JFC Norfolk extends our special thanks to our Senior Mentor, Admiral (retired) James Foggo, for his invaluable insights and contributions. Admiral Foggo's guidance and experience were instrumental in enriching the course content and providing a strategic perspective to our students. Additionally this course was supported by the NATO School Oberammergau (NSO),based in Germany, who sent their team of instructors to the USA to provide high quality, professional instruction.
