JFC Norfolk hosts inaugural Warfighter Talks


Bodo, Norway – The Commander, Vice Admiral Doug Perry and a contingent of his staff hosted the inaugural JFC Norfolk Warfighter Talks last week in Bodo, Norway at Norwegian Joint Headquarters.

Representatives from national Joint Headquarters in JFC Norfolk’s Area of Operations and other Allied Command Operations Headquarters attended these important talks. Topics discussed were the continued growth of JFC Norfolk, the requirement to align NATO and national defence plans and the creation of new headquarters elements in the Nordic Region.

Vice Admiral Perry stated: “It was a privilege to have hosted the inaugural JFC Norfolk Warfighter Talks last week in Bodo, Norway and I am sincerely grateful to Commander, Norwegian Joint HQ Vice Admiral Rune Andersen, and his team for hosting us. JFC Norfolk and NATO are committed to delivering peace, security and stability to the Atlantic and Arctic and what we discussed directly supports NATO ambitions – we will conduct more exercises, integrate and align NATO and national defence plans and continue to synchronise Allied military activity to deter NATO’s adversaries and potential adversaries.”

The JFC Norfolk Wafighter Talks follow several significant developments in the context of Nordic security. The Norwegian Ministry of Defence recently announced the funding of NATO’s third Combined Air Operations Centre which will be located in Bodo, Norway. In Finland, NATO and the Finnish Ministry of Defence continue to work together in the creation of a new Multi-Corps Land Component Command which will be based in Mikkeli.
