EXERCISE MAPLE RESOLVE 22 KICKS OFF IN ALBERTA, CANADA

WAINWRIGHT, Alberta, Canada - The annual Canadian Armed Forces (CAF)-led Exercise Maple Resolve 22 (Ex MR 22) began at Canadian Manoeuvre Training Center, Camp Wainwright, Alberta, Canada, May 10, 2022.

Ex MR 22 is a Canadian led multi-national exercise that ensures NATO and its Allies' ability to defend North America, operate together during multi-service and multi-component missions, and protect its ability to project combat power around the globe. Ex MR 22 will provide opportunities for Canadian, British, and American service members to learn from each other and improve interoperability and military readiness.

Exercise Maple Resolve is the Army’s premier training exercise of the year.

“It’s our soldiers’ main opportunity to validate their training before going on actual operations. They need to be versatile, as they could be deployed to combat, training or humanitarian missions in other countries.” A spokesperson for Ex MR 22 said.

The exercise, which is the Canadian Army’s largest and most complex annual exercise, will take place until May 22, 2022. For an exercise of this magnitude to be successful, logistics plays a vital role. U.S. forces, equipment and supplies travelled to numerous Canadian destinations via two subset exercises – Nationwide Move 22 and Maple Caravan 22.

The Honourable Anita Anand, Canada’s Minister of National Defence; and Chief of the Defence Staff, General Wayne Eyre, will visit 3rd Canadian Division Support Base Detachment Wainwright during the exercise, to meet with CAF and Allied armed forces members who are participating.
